Abstract

nrecentyears,Brazilhasbecomeadestinationforthousandsofimmigrants,andoneofthemainchallengesfacedbytheseindividualsinrelationtointegrationintothenewcountryislearningthelanguage.However,currently,PortugueseasaHostLanguage(PHL)coursesarelimited,theteachingmaterialsavailableforstudyarescarce,andoftendonotcontemplatethetruerealityofourlanguage.Therefore,thisresearch,whichderivesfromalargerprojectcalled“BrazilianPortuguesespokeninSerraGaúchaasahostlanguageformigrants”,aimstodevelopteachingmaterialsbasedonnaturalisticinteractions.Tothisend,inthefirsthalfof2024,45medicalconsultationswererecordedintwoBasicHealthUnitslocatedinamunicipalityinSerraGaúcha.Afterrecording,theconsultationsweretranscribedaccordingtoJefferson's(1984)conventionsandanalyzedaccordingtothetheoretical-methodologicalperspectiveofConversationAnalysis(CA).Finally,itisconcludedthatCAcontributestolinguisticeducation,as,inthisstudy,itrevealedthevocabulary,theformatofturns,theinteractionalactions,andtheoverallstructureofinteractions,aspectsthatsupportedthedevelopmentofPHLteachingmaterial.Furthermore,byusingnaturalisticinteractionstodevelopteachingmaterials,thisworkcontributestotheimprovementofthePHLarea,asitallowsimmigrantstocomeintocontactwiththelanguageasitreallyis.
