EMCATeaching:
Details:
The project is titled “Teaching EMCA: Practices, challenges, and reflections in a diverse community.” It explores how Ethnomethodology and Conversation Analysis (EMCA) is taught across different academic and institutional contexts worldwide.
This study builds on earlier ethnographic exploration of the EMCA community (Icbay, 2026, published in Symbolic Interaction and avaliable here https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/symb.70010) and aims to document and reflect on teaching practices, challenges, and rewards across the community.
The survey consists of six sections of open-ended questions and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=IfcEBVHUK0C4hDgUKFWeOaCxuUYkslpNhxS2cen8etJUN0JOM1pPUlVSNFlUQzg0M0FPQ1IwWTI0QS4u
Participation is entirely voluntary. Respondents may also request a Word version of the survey if they would prefer to complete it at their own pace. They can contact Dr. Mehmet Ali Icbay at micbay@wu.ac.at or maicbay@gmail.com.
