26th Conference on Discourse and Conversation Analysis: “Multimodal practices in social interaction”:

The 26th Arbeitstagung zur Gesprächsforschung (Conference on Discourse and Conversation Analysis) will take place from 17-19 March 2027 at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim, Germany.
In 2027, the conference theme is “Multimodal practices in social interaction”.
The conference provides a forum for presenting and discussing current research and insights into multimodal practices in both informal and professional settings. We welcome contributions from multimodal Conversation Analysis, Interactional Linguistics, and Multimodal Construction Grammar that examine the verbal-embodied constitution of social actions, the use of multimodal practices in turn and conversational organization, and their use in first- and second-language interaction, in both co-presence or mediated by technology. We also welcome methodologically oriented contributions addressing how multimodal practices can be captured and analyzed, as well as contributions that reflect on and further develop, on an empirical basis, concepts such as multimodal Gestalts (Mondada 2014), multimodal constructions (e.g. Zima 2025), multimodal assemblies (Pekarek Doehler 2019, 2022), and syntactic-bodily units (Keevallik 2020). The deadline for abstract submissions (max. 2,500 characters, including spaces, excluding references) is 15 November 2026. Abstracts should be sent as a Word or PDF file to agf2027@ids-mannheim.de
