Abstract

The ethnomethodological and conversationalist program realizes a shift in the sociological field by respecifying the notion of « social order ». We argue that this acception is particularily relevant to account for human / animal interactions. At the same time, this program proposes new methodological and analytical tools that enable detailed empirical descriptions of interspecies interactions. The aim of this article is twofold and couples a theoretical presentation of the main lines of the ethnomethodological thought with a discussion of some empirical works on human / animal interaction.

L’approche ethnométhodologique et conversationnaliste réalise un décentrement du regard sociologique qui, en spécifiant la notion « d’ordre social », autorise de manière inédite la prise en compte des interactions entre hommes et animaux dans la description sociologique. Dans le même temps, cette approche propose des outils analytiques et méthodologiques originaux qui donnent une prise pour la description empirique des interactions interspécifiques. C’est à la fois à la présentation des principaux enjeux de la pensée ethnométhodologique qui éclairent la question des interactions hommes / animaux, et à la discussion de certains de ces travaux empiriques, que le présent article se consacre.
