It will do this by discussing an example of work combining interview data analysed thematically with consultation data analysed using conversation analysis. The talk will reflect on how to mix qualitative approaches without (too many) compromises. <br /> <br /> About Professor Stevenson<br /> Fiona Stevenson is a Professor of Medical Sociology at University College London. Her research interests are in (i) the construction of decision making about medical care, (ii) the impact of complex interventions, technology and treatment adherence on communication between health care professionals and patients in a range of medical settings, and (iii) implementation of interventions into health care. Fiona is a mixed qualitative methods researcher and works with data of health care professional-patient interactions, as well as interview and focus group data. Fiona facilitates and teaches on a consistently over-subscribed MSc module Qualitative Research Methods in Health and leads undergraduate modules on Social Theory and qualitative research.
